The Asfari Reawakening eBook Susan Fadellin
The world is in turmoil an a group of adventures attempt to summon a long missing and powerful wizard named Lopt in hopes he can prevent the world plunging into darkness. However something goes awry during the summoning and instead of a powerful wizard, a young woman named Emma is summoned but she has his staff. She is not of the world of swords and sorcery but rather from modern day Earth (or some place like it.) However she may be the only hope to save the world she doesn't even understand. Together with the adventures that summoned her she must navigate the dangers and politics of the world in hopes to help them save it. Her adventures are Hakon, a price whose kingdom was lost to invaders; Beregorn, a man with the rare ability to communicate with certain animals and Llewyllen, a man who has no memory of his past. The group not only fights to save their world but to find their place within it.I found the world and mythology of this book to be very enjoyable. The Asfari are demi-gods of the past that haven't been seen or heard from in hundreds of years and have slowly fallen into legend. The world is a fractured collection of kingdoms that are near verge of war. I enjoyed the characters in the book especially the adventures who grow together throughout the book. The thing I was wishing for the most was a map or appendix to help keep track of the world we were in. There is a great amount of history, lore and geography mentioned that it would have been nice to easily consult. That said I found the book well worth the $2 and hope to see more of these characters in the future.
